Dearest Ma, The tape for this night is difficult to hear, so please forgive some unfinished lines. Love, Kashi

                                     6th Night of Durga Puja
                                     3rd Night of Mother Laksmi

These nights have been very, very special. Mother Laksmi, we honor you this night Take the karma of my chelas SWAHA !!!

Once when I was learning and Swami was attempting to teach me, I

wanted only to do puja to Mother Kali, for I was madly in love with Her. And I

sat there, in my temple … and Swami and Baba said, “Oh, so it is only Kali that you want to do puja to…” And I said, “All I need is Mother Kali”. And Swami said, “This One must teach you something”. And then Baba said, “Do you think that Kali is only the terrifying, horrific Goddess of the cremation grounds?” And He told me the story of when Parvati wanted to go to Her father’s fire puja and Shiva forbade Her, for you see, She was invited but Her husband

wasn’t. He said, “You can’t go”. She said, “I must go, for I must represent you and tell the world that the great Lord Shiva was slighted”. He said, “No, you’re not going. There is no way you are going. You are to stay here on Mount Kailash and take care of your consort”. Well, She became enraged. “Oh?” She said, “You are forbidding me to go – you are not allowing me to go to this puja, this great fire puja?” And She stood up tall in Her own being and She roared like a lion and She turned into ten of the Goddesses. The first being Kali and the last being Laksmi or Kamala. Shiva looked at the ten Goddesses and saw that they were all equally, phenominally, fierce … and they encircled Him. He said, “What is it you want?” “Nothing,” they answered. “Lay down and be still… stay in the stillness and we will cause the Nataraj…” He laid very still and each one danced upon Him. When it came to Laksmi, She turned into all ten of them. She said, “This night is different from any other night, for tonight the Mahavidyas dance on your chest”. So that night, on the eve before Parvati, who turned into Sati, took leave of Her Lord, the Mahavidyas danced on Shiva’s chest. And it was the Goddess of Fortune who stood and danced the most. From Her yoni came not blood, but golden coins to bless all those who worship every name of the

Mother, with prosperity in their spiritual life, kindness in their hearts, and fearlessness…

Passion is what one needs to do puja. This is a teaching where

it is all or nothing. All attachments must die…. You say, what am I attached to, can I let it go or must I be bound by the wheel of life and death? That

wheel goes around and around and around and around…..

Namaste
