Om Ganesha Morning Pujas and Prayers August 18, 1999
My prayers and pujas go out this day to the Mother Tara.
I ask the beautiful green Tara to absorb all the anger in my chelas that is keeping them from Her divine light.
I ask Mother to create in them an individual awareness of the Jiva Atman, the individual soul. When this is complete, I ask my Mother Tara to allow my chelas to feel the beauty of the universal Atman, the universal soul.
The spirit of many yogi chelas who have come before them always prevails. These souls can not be affected by death or life. When one gains insight to the greatness of what is in them, then the Mother Tara is right there to help them across the road to clarity and Samadhi. The Mother Tara is hungry for all that Her chelas do not need in order to find happiness at her feet.
At the feet of Mother Tara while one dwells in Kashi, the seeds of Karma is burnt away in the Dhuni of Mother Kalis compassion and truth.
One must endeavor to know the truth of their existence. In the sacred Kashi of old and of now, there is the essence of so many souls that follow the scents of the holy in puja and in prayers.
I have given my life to create Kashi here in the west. It is the sacredness of this holy ashram that holds the Goddess Tara and Kali. All who walk Her sacred grounds are filled with a deep joy of accomplishment. To be able to live here in Kashi is to see ones dream of liberation and service come to pass. The two go hand in hand as one makes their way to God under the guidance of the Guru. The Guru holds the map to liberation. Yet to live on such sacred grounds is to hold the map ones self. It is buried deep inside of you. The Mother Tara takes Her children from the darkness of doubt into the light of conviction.
A chela who is desirous of attaining liberation at the feet of Her Guru, enters the sacredness of Kashi and begins to step upon the road that leads to liberation. It is a commitment of life times past. The seeds of Karma which are burnt in Kalis Dhuni are those seeds of doubts. Yet the Mother of Illusion Maya is always there to test the chelas love and devotion. Mother Tara takes one across Maya with out a scratch if the chela is willing. I myself never had doubt, in my Guru or my teachers. I was in it for the long haul of forever. Maya had no home in my heart.
When you do not invite Maya in, she can not take up residence. Maya and Mother Tara can not occupy the same place and space.
Birth Mothers may give the form of a body to their child, yet it is the Guru who truly gives birth to the spiritual body and heart of her chela.
When one forgets this, there is great pain. You may ask why is there such sorrow in the world, even those who follow the Guru. I will answer the way I was taught. The Guru is always there, in the heart of the chela. One gets stronger and stronger at the feet of the Guru and even in the face of sorrow, one is able to live through it all. Remember what our wonderful friend Reb Zalman said, when you cry, God cries with you.
These words have always meant so much to your Ma because of its wisdom and truth.
I say to you who live in our Sacred Kashi, place a flower on all the Murties, this day, and give thanks for your home, your Ashram. I say to you who do not live on Her sacred soil, to place a flower in front of any murtie you have, and feel the sacredness of Kashi in your heart.
Mother Tara take my children across their small self into the largeness of the Atman.
These are my pujas and these are my prayers. I love you. Love, Ma. Jai Kali Ma Ki Jai
