Om Ganesha Morning Pujas and Prayers August 19, 1999
Once a chela asked Swami if He could see God. He answered, “This one sees God,more clearly than you can be seen.”
For us who have taken birth for humanity’s sake God is clearer than humans.
Until that moment when the merge begins, be simple and meditate, be joyous in your meditations, be happy in your life.
There are hundreds and hundreds of prayers and meditations one can do in order to find happiness.
Yet there is no prayer greater than service. Our Swami taught me that so many years and life times ago. The Vedas enlighten the seeker about the divine self. The Guru leads the way. The Mother takes on the karma of the chela. Helping another human being is all of these things.
Raised by Big Henry Old Hudson and the others showed me the beauty of taking care of another, even in the face of danger.
My people were homeless junkies and drinkers, yet they were my first Gurus. They showed me love and that love I give freely to all of you.
The world is made up of choices and conditions. God has given all of us choice and Nature dictates conditions.
To have faith in God, and Guru, all can be overcome ,Yet the greatest joy for Guru is to have faith in Her chelas.
I remember how scared I was when my Baba and Swami told me that they had faith in me. What if I let them down!!!!!!!!!! What if I could not live up to what they wanted from me. It was Swami who said, This one says NO WHAT IFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When one says what if, there is no living in the moment. If you do not live in the Moment you will not command the future and you will slide deeper in the past and pain of the past.
I have been with my teens all summer. My own children had shared their Mom and their Grandma with their Gurubais. These children have seen more than most children have ever seen in life times. These children have taken care of people with AIDS from the very beginning of the plague.
What gives these children of Neem Karoli Baba the great ability to serve others? What lets these children see the beauty in being Gay, instead of judging others, they see beauty in diversity. What lets these children be able to wash the dead and then take care of the living. Creed religion or color has no bearing to these children of Baba. Why, you might ask.
They have learnt at the Gurus knee. Instead of hearing words of hate at the dinner table, they heard words of pride, when their Ma was talking about Drag Queens giving fundraisers, for their brothers and sisters with AIDS.
My children have been giving money to the poor all their lives. Why is it these children can do such a thing with out shame. They learnt at the feet of the Guru.
My prayers are large this day. I am asking every one who reads this line or has been reading our web page, to teach their children the true meaning of love. And that meaning is non judgment. My little 7 year old Shiva Naga who is staying with me for a short while was wearing a tee shirt that said, CHILDREN ARE NOT BORN RACIEST This is so true. Start with the children and teach them the sacredness of Kashi and the holiness of service.
Once when I was taking care of my little 9 year old Dena who was raped at the age of 7, and was dying of AIDS at the age of 9, I asked her if she forgave the world for her pain. She looked at me and said, didnt you teach me not to have time for hate.
This is a Darshan Line, yet what good are lessons when they are not put into practice.
Mauna is silence, when you are silent within your self then you can feel a power surge up in you that gives you the strength to serve and grow. Many years ago, I met my Ananda Devi, whom the world had hurt so much. Yet the second she saw her Ma she began to serve others in my name.
This woman is the teaching, ( she is going to kill me for this) This woman has taken her pain and used it to help others.
Every day some chela from any where in this world asks me to help another human being.
Very few asks for them selves. Perhaps I am writing like this because today is my sister Shirleys Birthday. She died one and a half years ago, with her Kashi family around her. She died in her Mas arms. She wanted so much for the children of the teaching. Her life was filled with pain and hunger. Yet she wanted every one never to be in pain.
Make this day a special day and the beginning of many special days. Take care of another human being. Be a little kinder today then yesterday and even kinder tomorrow than today.
Lust anger and greed are the paths to pain and suffering. Generosity is the path to the heart.
This teaching of our Neem Karoli Baba and our Swami Nityananda, is the teaching of prem through service.
Kindness is all the armor you need to walk this earth today. Be like my teens who are all going off to University and listen well to the Guru, Love this day as you never have felt love before. Enter into the sun light of your life and begin where you are at this moment. When you finish reading these words, sit very still and add the wood of kindness to the Dhuni fire that is burning with in you. Perhaps kindness is all you need now to reach that sacred space that you have been searching for all of your life times. Be still, my chelas and take the Gurus hand She will lead you to the Baba.
I am always with you.
These are my pujas and these are my prayers. I love you. Love, Ma. Jai Kali Ma Ki Jai
