Om Ganesha,

Evening Pujas and Prayers

December 19, 2005

Namaste my chelas all over the world.

There is nothing on this Mother Earth that is as sweet as serving others who are in need.

All over the Country our Ashrams are doing seva and bringing smiles and love to every one.

My Arlo has been doing concerts traveling on a train and playing to so many hearts.

I am so proud of Him.

Every one in His family worked day and night to put this all together.

They are my family also.

What a blessing to be able to play for so many who have so little.

As so many of you know yesterday your Ma went out and helped those who worked in the malls in the bathrooms and those who took the garbage or just needed help.

Our kids have been doing this with their Ma for all of their lives.

My Radhe is the heart of this day.

Each time she helped someone she came over to me and said THANK YOU SO MUCH MA and then proceeded to tell me what happened.

Shody and I went into the bathrooms and made sure every one received.

It was a beautiful day.

I remember when the kids were little how they loved to do this.

It just opened my heart and now that they are older they all serve where ever they are.

My Jaya Sita Jelly Bean sent into the Bus a big jar of jelly beans for her Ma and I just loved it .

Every thing that you all do makes such a difference in so many lives.

My Florida chelas had tons of food and clothes and toys and every thing that one could use that most of us take for granted.

Please make sure no one is alone for the holidays.

Let us all share our lives and our love with those who have a need and so many have needs.

Just simple basic needs.

Serving is the Divine Love that flows through our hearts.

May this Sadhna go on and on until we are all Ash by the Fire of the Mother’s Sacred Love.

The heart is a solitary place that must be shared.

I will share with you some of my chela’s letters.

I love you all so very much.

Love Ma

Namaste my Ma,

Today was the FEED EVERYONE Christmas Gift giving.  So many people were blessed by Your love.  We set out in groups of3 or 4 and traveled to Gifford and Fort Pierce spreading Baba’s blanket filled with anarrayofpersonnel gifts to so many families.  Families were stunned and moved to tears with the generosity of a laundry bag filled with gifts, fresh hams and fruit and ofcoursehomemade cookies. This year we were able to provide new clothes, jewelry, comforters and blankets and a gift certificate to Winn-Dixie. Our hearts were filled by being able to bring Christmas to so many. What sacrednessYou have taught us tohave the knowledgeofwhat a true Christmasis.

We thank You and hold this day close to our heart.

All my love always,

Your,

Ananda DeviJaya

NEW ORLEANS – Arlo Guthrie and Willie Nelson gave a sold-out crowd something they’ve needed since Hurricane Katrina–good music, a good time and a reminder of what they love most about this city.

Guthrie welcomed the crowd late Saturday at Tipitina’s, his last performance in a two-week railroad tour to raise money for musicians left homeless and without a place to work by Katrina.

“I’m so happy to be here,” Guthrie said, drawing hollers and applause.

Crystal Gross was among about 800 people at the benefit concert. She said her apartment in the city survived, but she wanted to help people who were less fortunate.

“Besides, when else do you get to see Willie Nelson at Tip’s?” said Gross, who had moved back to New Orleans in July, about a month before Katrina struck.

Inspired by television coverage of the hurricane’s aftermath and by learning that Amtrak had resumed its “City of New Orleans” service to the city, Guthrie hopped a train in Illinois two weeks ago and scheduled performances along the route with other musicians.

His 1972 hit, “The City of New Orleans,” written by the late Chicagoan Steve Goodman, recounts life on the train, with the chorus beginning, “Good morning America, how are you?”

Guthrie arrived in New Orleans on Thursday and performed at Tipitina’s on Friday with Ramblin’ Jack Elliott and others. He added that show after learning that Saturday night’s grand finale performance with Nelson was sold out.

“We are thrilled that we have been able to make some small dent in all that is wrong down here,” Guthrie said.

In an interview before the show, Nelson said he hoped his visit would encourage musicians to return and get the New Orleans music scene back on its feet.

“We want to see them come back,” he said, “but I want them to have a place to come back to, a place to live.”

Money and equipment from the Arlo Guthrie & Friends tour will be donated to performers and to churches and schools with music programs.
