Om Ganesha,
Namaste my chelas all over the world.
I dedicate this day and perhaps my life to all those that I blessed in marriage over the years.
From hospital beds, hospices and private houses as death as their witness and my son my Arlo Guthrie bringing their music, I remember.
I remember I asked who is it, as death came a knocking at the door?
I asked for Him to please wait and wait as long as he could as I did the ceremony for the many sons and daughters of my heart.
You see my chelas, DEATH DOES HAVE A HEART.
Flowers on beds and roses in the hair.
The scent of jasmine filling the air
Fountain of smiles every where.
Ram Shawls around their necks
Aids had no place being there.
We laughed and our laughter spread in all directions.
Nurses doctors and aids all became our witnesses.
The flood of laughter filled the hospital halls.
County Homes became churches and temples of all religions.
To some relatives came to others I was their every thing, Mother Father sister brother son daughter and proud to be so.
There was not one grim smile even when pain took over.
Their Souls were not desert Souls any more.
Loved beamed with the juice of the moment through their hearts.
Enthroned beneath hastily made canopies over the beds, the kiss of sealing the marriage seemed to go on for life times.
And it did.
My prince married to my prince my princes married to my princess.
All in a place of sincerity.
To brighten their smiles and perhaps their deaths we brought in cakes and cookies balloons and animals.
Turn another eye I asked those who were in charge.
Who are you some asked, I AM THEIR MOTHER I answered with fierce love in my heart that showed in my eyes.
No one dare say a word.
NOT A WORD AS I LOOKED CRAZED IF ANY ONE TRIED TO STOP THE BEAUTY THAT WAS THE MOMENT.
No shades of pity in any ones eyes.
The dying came in droves to see their friends marry and their Ma marry them.
When was this time of AIDS??????????????????
I can not remember, I can only remember a time of heroes and love.
Yet this fight against AIDS go on.
Nothing has changed, just more is hidden by those in charge.
I look over my Ganga and see all my dead rejoice for the marriages of their brothers and sisters.
I am made happy of heart.
I ask all the couples, I ask all the brides and the grooms, I ask every one, no I beg every one to remember and to never forget that they must live in the moment of happiness and bring happiness to others in honor to those who longed for this day and is made happy that it came.
These children of mine are unique and beautiful and I am proud to be their Ma.
Love Ma
Jai Kali Ma Ki Jai
Always at His Feet Of Our Neem Karoli Baba Ki Jai
The Mother Bhagavati sat by the Ganges knowing always knowing this time would come Ki Jai
